W3RK Week – 05/14/12

I would say I skipped an entry last week as I was trying to give some buffer to this thread’s name change- now affectionately titled, W3RK Week- but that’s a bold faced lie. Simply put, I was swamped and just plain old didn’t make the time (and I needed a second dose of Avengers!). But the world spun on and here we are…

imageAnd in my current case, “here” is actually 30,000 feet up in the air, heading to the great state of Minnesota en route to attend this weekend’s Minnesota Comic Book Association SpringCon 2012. And I find myself highly excited! It’s been a good two months of appearances and conventions, building buzz for Warshop and the studio. Meeting many fine folks, and getting a nice feel for the audience. So far so good and I don’t anticipate this weekend’s trip to be any different. Having an affinity for smaller cons (most any pale next to San Diego), one of the things I look forward to is meeting the fans of MN. All shows we’ve done thus far have been in the southwest US- California and Arizona (speaking of the devil we’re 37,000 feet above the deserts of AZ as we speak, according to the captain). While I don’t expect drastic differences from the fans here and there, living in the global community we do and moreso comics being such a tight community in itself, I’ve found the areas we’ve visited have their personalities. And it’s a curiosity what the Minneapolis/St. Paul flair will be. If how the MCBA volunteer communication has been to us guests is any indication, I’m looking forward to an enthusiastic, comic loving crowd. Let’s hope that’s the case!

With one more (and it’s a big one- Phoenix) con in our immediate future, the price paid, is sadly, a small delay in the Warshop launch date. Travel, these cons and appearances (as well as other professional duties, projects and commitments) take their toll on the production schedule. While I can say it will be well worth it, delays of whatever nature, is never ideal. Thankfully, they are slight, and by the time it’s all said and done, we’ll be ahead with at least six months worth of online content. That’s a big YAY!

imageI may try to squeeze a sketch (or nap) in before the flight is over… So, until next week, that’s my W3RK Week…
